Plone Captchas and join_form

Hi i'm trying to integrate the product with plone's join_form. I want to do that, as some of my plone sites have been attacked by bots that try to register themselves and clutter new users lists. What is there to be done in the join_form itself is quite self-explanatory. But i also need to validate the field of captcha word input in join_form_validate. Is there a howto about using the product to make a custom validator? Thanks

OK, i have asked the question without enough research on my own. sorry. For the people that want to integrate qPloneCaptchas with their join_form, i've written this howto. Hope it helps someone who finds it: qPloneCaptchas and Plone 2.5 join_form integration howto: install qPloneCaptchas go to ZMI, then portal_skins/plone_login/join_form click "customize" find the best place to paste the captcha fieldset, and paste <div metal:use-macro="here/captcha_widget/macros/captcha"></div> click "save changes" click the "validation" tab go to "edit default validators section" add a comma and "captcha_validator" in the list of validators. you're done. Now a user will have to fill a captcha to be registered.

I had the same problem but have found out what the trouble is (at least in my case). You need to include the port-number in the api setup. So if you have registered a key for http://www.testsite2.com/testing, you need to specify the address in the plone control panel as http://www.testsite2.com:80/testing.

I have tried to get theese two to work together and have read that qplonecaptchas should be installed last, but it still wold not work. My versions: Plone 2.5.1 qplonecomments 2.2.0 RC1 qplonecaptchas 1.0 Any suggestions? /Niklas

Might need to describe the problem as well ;) I first install qplonecomments, and that works great, but when i install qplonecaptchas i get the origiona comments form back (without the possibility to add "name"). I have tried this several times but still no luck. /Niklas

I have now tried both installation orders, but without luck. When i remove captchas_discussion, i get the qplonecomments form back, but then i dont have the captchas function. Where should i add the capchas code to include it in qplonecomments?

Zoom level of maps in marker

Hi, I am developing a site that has a qPloneGoogleMaps map to show a numer of dive locations . Each marker is a document that describes some details about the location . I would like to be able to set the zoom level of the map shown in the marker document. I've searched the API but I cannot find a method to do this. Will future versions of the product have a setZoom method? (BTW: the product is really easy to use and install! The issue found in uninstall function. On product reinstall the 'qPloneComments' property sheet is cleaned. You have to reenter the properties values to get notifications. The uninstall function is fixed in /trunk.

The correct installation procedure is to install qPloneCaptchas first then you have to install qPloneComments. qPloneCaptchas adds captchas_discussion layer to your skins which overrides default plone discussion template. If you by chance installed qPloneComments first and only then qPloneCaptchas, please reinstall products in correct order. (Removing the captchas_discussion layer from your skins should help also).

I still have problem even with SVN 2.2.0, I have had it working twice, but when i have tried to repeat the installation procedure, i just wont work the next time.

I downloaded the qPloneDropDownMenu product, and installed it on my site. I was able to adjust the colors and widths of the drop-down menus, but I seem to have lost the ability to designate the color of my selected tab. I used #portal-globalnav li.selected a {} in my ploneCustom.css to no avail. Any suggestions?

This is because the qPloneDropDownMenu-0.1.x series has fixed HTML from its configlet as menu and it is not generated (as default plone tabs are). In default Plone, while changing section of the site, the .selected class changes list item it is attached to. In qPloneDropDownMenu-0.1.x it is not, thus it is not possible to do any CSS highlighting of section visitor is in. With current version of product you'd have to rewrite the code that generates your tabs (and embedded menus) to be mixture of default Plone tabs and your sub-menus. This feature was too complex for v0.1 of product and it will be available in v0.2 (you can test it from SVN, but we do no guarantee the site will be working if you upgrade to 0.2 release as there is major rewrite of 0.2 undergo).

I have to admit qPloneComments 2.2.0-rc1 is not fully compatible with the last version 1.0. of qPloneCaptchas. The issue is already resolved in our svn tag 2.2.0. You can find 2.2.0 version in our svn http://projects.quintagroup.com/products/browser/qPloneComments/tags/2.2.0 to checkout you will need to use URL http://svn.quintagroup.com/products/qPloneComments/tags/2.2.0.

Hi, Since nobody in the email list Plone -users picked this up i decided to post the question here: Hi, I am using QploneComments 2.2.0 RC1 to moderate my commenting on a plone 2.1.3 system on Windows XP. The moderation system works, but after installing this newer version the emailing doesn't work anymore. The Plone instance itself does email, there are other products which do email as well and they work.. Does anybody else have a clue where this is going wrong ? It seems to be working OK if i remove captchas_discussion/2.5 from ZMI/skins properties layers, as you sugested from the beginning.

iTunes Breaks RSS2 Feed

Apart from the ogic being the wrong way around, this breaks other integration points on form validators. In other words, you have skipped the prompt for a captcha but the form validators are still expecting one. If anyone has figured out the python script changes required to also skip form validation for authenticated members, please post here. Thanks. Plone Drop Down Menu has not been tested with Plone 3.0 but there is plan to release a completely rewritten version. Delivery time cannot be estimated though as there are other projects in queue.

problem loading geolocation product

As someone I know would say... "loving it"..... but is there any way to import/export large blocks of point data in and out?... make life a lot easier for me... also.... anyway to make labels for the markers? and... i cant seem to make my pics pop up either? Not asking a lot ...lol... but i think it's great ..nice and simple to use..... thanks for getting it going....... cheers ... ps we are a bunch of GIS geeks so if ever you need a hand with data or imagery drop us a line.....

Hi, You must enable syndication for your Blog object. For simplifying managing of syndication - go to portal_syndication (in ZMI) and in Actions tab check Visible property (for syndication action). In Plone interface go to your Blog, to syndication tab. Enable and tune syndication accordingly to your needs. Than you'll see rss2setup tub for setup RSS2 synduication. GoogleMaps and Apache rewrites

Hey QG, I was testing out your google maps product, which is very nice, but I noticed that if I use apache rewrites it does not seem to work. I would guess that the issue is that google's requirement to have the url match the one used in the key generation is somehow screwing things up with rewrites. So with my plone site at http://wrndusitrd95:9081/TestSite2/testing/map-crap things work ok with a key generated using that url. However if I then try to use that site via an apache rewrite url, I get the error from google about not using the right url. Well that makes sense I guess, but what's odd is that if I go and create a new key with my "rewritten" url, I still get an error. My rewritten url is: http://www.testsite2.com When I genererated a key with this url: http://www.testsite2.com/testing/map-crap I still get the error. It's not possible for now. This is because the qPloneDropDownMenu-0.1.x has static HTML code taken from configlet as menu and it is not involved in the internationalization process thus. But this feature will be available in 0.2 version of qPloneDropDownMenu.

Haven't quite got it right

Great product. Can't wait to get it all in play. I have created a page in a folder that takes the lat&long fine and displays (in the geolocation view) the right location on the map. Went up to the folder containing the page/map and set the display to maps view. THAT view/map, though, is not for the location of the page. Am I missing something? Thanks, Bruce

Actually, I've made great progress, but am unsure of just one thing. In the geo location, I set the zoom level. Of course it shows correctly in the map view below the form. But when the portlet appears, while the location is correct, the zoom is not the zoom level I had set. In fact, it looks like '0' zoom, or whatever default is. How do I get the portlet to correctly display the zoom?

I'm using Plone Captchas in conjunction with CoreBlog2 (comment forms) and it's working like a charm. However, I'd like have it so that authenticated members don't need to use the captcha -- for them, it shouldn't show up on the form and the validation should be by-passed. Copied from Plone Bug Report I submitted: While working a newly created Plone 2.5.2 site this evening, I discovered that the folder_localrole_form (aka Sharing) can be accessed by anonymous users. This can be accomplished by accessing http://mysite.com/front-page/sharing . By itself, this gives anonymous users the ability to display the membership database, but they can not change the settings. However, when coupled with qPloneGoogleSitemaps-0.5 using the pinging functions on state change, anonymous users are capable of actually changing the state of the page. (ie retracting a published page or publishing a public draft page). Once the ping on state change options are set, they can not be reset thus leaving the hole open until a complete reinstall of the Plone site. While Plone allows anonymous users to access the folder_localrole_form (aka sharing) with or without qPloneGoogleSitemaps installed, the ability for the anonymous users to change the state of the object is activated when the publish option is checked in Sitemaps Setup -> Pinging -> Workflows to Ping -> plone_workflow. Dear All, We're trying to migrate our existing site from Plone 2.5.4 to Plone 3.0.6 for that I'm also updating our tailormade products to be easily imported to Plone 3.0.6. I went through various articles which aid the smooth migration but somehow I'm stuck with this one : I've replaced permissions instead of CMFCorePermissions I've also tried this : try: # New CMF from Products.CMFCore import permissions as CMFCorePermissions except ImportError: # Old CMF from Products.CMFCore import CMFCorePermissions to make it compatible with both 2.5 as well as 3.0, but things di'nt work. It's not possibly to display map on portlet with custom zoom. Map's zoom on portlet is equal to 6.

Here is what my ie install looks like: Upon rollover (orange) the drop menu rides and opens horizontally to the right instead of the clean left aligned vertical that appears in firefox. Hi, map shown in maps_view of a folder isn't customizable yet. Every time it's displayed with the best fit (center and autozoom) for the containment items. Map's Zoom is set to maximum but such that all markers are visible on map. So, when folder contain only a one item, zoom equals maximum.

When you click on 'Large screen' link on maps portlet, you get maps_view template which display a current item. You need customize this template (maps_view.pt) for adding some text above the map.

Schools Plone Skin Weather

I just installed Plone Weather and the Schools Plone skin and everything looks great and is working. My problem is when i went into the site setup and then selected the weather product, I changed the NOAA location and the zip to match my zipcode. I tried that but could not get it to display my profile instead. It is no longer a problem though because I decided to upgrade to plone 3.0, for the improved user management. I have a second question now. I am trying to edit the Contact Info portlet using the contactdetails page, but when ever I click the save page I always get an error. Having very similar problem on Plone 2.5.5 running qblog2.5.2. Contextual list of addable types doesn't correctly parse when the blog is the default view for the folder. Instead, I'm getting the regular list of addable types for the enclosing folder, not for the blog. In fact, the only way to then add blog entries is to make some other content the default view, then add the entry and switch back. Real bummer. When not set as the default view, everything works fine.

These patches also add some functionality for my (very) specific use cases, e.g. colored markers in GoogleMaps view and a configurable default location. I'm not sure which menu you are talking about, but most likely you want to look at the various style sheets for your skin and try adjusting them.

qPloneLiteSkin won't install on Unix

Hi I'm trying to install the qPloneLiteSkin on a Unix Plone 2.5.1 server. I am able to unzip the file and the product directories are all in place but on re-starting Plone I don't get a product to install. Nothing appears in the event log either. The init.py file isn't read and it's sitting in the right place once level below the product folder. Thanks

Hi I tried to install qPloneSkinLite-1.1.0, and there is no problem with it. Please try to install again and check all installing steps or your Zope configuration. I tried on Zope-2.9.5 and Plone-2.5.1 and it works. ;)

qSiloGroup customization?

Can qSiloGroup be customized to have static content; the same items appearing on all pages (as opposed to the default behaviour of listing items from the current folder being browsed)? If so, how? If not, do you know of a better Product to deliver that result? A.

You can read how qSiloGroup works here http://projects.quintagroup.com/products/wiki/qSiloGroup Navigation is able to preview links to documents in current folder Navigation is the same for all documents inside current folder (not subfolder). I don't know about other product suitable for Plone 2.5.x

To display page with photo and tabs you have to switch the default view to 'document_with_photo_view' for page or 'folder_with_photo_summary_view' for folder or smart folder at 'display' menu of content management tabs. This is the only step you need to do. Thanks for the question, we just omitted this from installation procedure, corrected now.
